Questions to Ask a Private Estate Wedding Property

When trying to decide whether or not to have your wedding or special event at a private estate wedding property, we recommend asking the following questions before you sign the dotted line.  An estate wedding or special event at a private estate can be absolutely breathtaking, however this type of property is not for everyone.  There are restrictions since it is a private property.  There are time restrictions, such as how late your party can go until and parking is usually limited (some neighborhoods have no parking and guests have to shuttle or use Uber or Lyft.

Here are some questions to ask a private estate wedding property owner or location company:

1. Is everything included in the fee or A la carte?
2. What is the maximum guest count allowed?
3. How late at night can our party go until?
4. What is the parking situation?
5. May we bring in our own vendors?
6. How much is the rental fee and what does it include?
7. May we have amplified music or acoustical music?
8. Is your home up for sale?
9. Do you have any renovation plans?
10. Do you have a place for us to get ready?
11. Are there any restrictions – may we use the inside of the home?
12. Is there a weather contingency plan for bad weather?

Important information to determine before deciding on an estate:

1. Your guest count.
2. Estimate a budget – if you are on a strict budget, we don’t recommend having a private estate wedding, since everything must be brought it. If your budget is more flexible, then this could be a good fit.
3. Dates that will work.
4. City or cities that will work for your wedding / special event.
5. How late will your wedding go until – normally 10 pm or 11 pm. Very few estates can go later and they usually are isolated or have a ballroom.
