Holiday Party Planning Tips

Holiday Party Planning Tips – If you are having a party with 30 or more guests, planning a cocktail party can become stressful especially if you have a full-time job or a lot of projects already on your plate.

Here are ten tips to keep the party planning fun and stress free-

  1. Hire a planner to do a logistical walk-through at your home.  He or she can advise on your layout, logistics, decor and recommend event professionals. Our rate is hourly and it includes a summary report. Our clients love this service and we do it every year starting in November.
  2. Hire a professional bartender to setup the bar and serve drinks.
  3. Find a reputable local chef / caterer to handle the food.  Our clients love heavy appetizers served buffet style or tray passed.
  4. Set the mood with really low-key lighting and votive candles.  Make sure that you turn-off overhead and bright lights.
  5. Make sure that your furniture is positioned, so it allows the guests to move easily.
  6. If the weather is cold, rent a coat rack with hangers and place it in a nearby bedroom or hallway.
  7. Select music that includes party favorites and popular holiday songs or hire a piano player to entertain if you own a piano.
  8. Purchase cute take-out boxes for left-overs for your guests.
  9. Hire a helper to handle the kitchen clean-up and maintain the restrooms.  You want to be able to enjoy your own party.
  10. Have a rain contingency plan in place if you are having your party outside.
